Its been 79 years that we are independent.
When we think back to the years of slavery and foreign rule, we realize that this freedom has cost us such a high price, which means cause lives of millions of martyrs.
Today is the day to remind and salute the bravery of those warriors of independence who sacrificed their lives to live us with freedom and to those who are still at our borders working day and night to save us from any danger.

India was under British rule for almost 200 years. On 15th August 1947, the Indian Independence Act came into effect. While the British left India, before leaving India, they divided the country into India and Pakistan.
Immediate Impact of Partition and Independence:
Due to the partition of British India, millions of Hindus, Sikhs, and Muslims had to leave their homeland to move to India or Pakistan. The massive bloodshed consumed the lives of millions and raised the number of refugees.
