According to reports, Facebook may be working on a new app for mobiles that will send breaking news alerts directly to smart phones.

But it is still in development stages. It is said that the app will work by asking what notifications you will love to receive. Also the topics you are interested in. So when there is news about something that you are interested in. You will be notified by receiving a push notification.

But only a few selected publications will be partnered with Facebook at first. But as times goes on that may change if the app is seen as successful. It is clear that Facebook is becoming very serious about becoming the news source for the people.
As earlier this year Facebook launched Instant articles. Crating a new way to read the news or content of any type. It is admitted that such an app would get important news to people with better speed. Almost immediately.
But with all this said. it is a report. A Facebook spokesperson declined any comment. Another spokesperson said that Facebook doesn't comment on speculation.
